C-arms consist of a generator, an X-ray source, and an image intensifier or flat-panel detector. The name “C-arm” comes from the C-shaped arm that is used to connect the X-ray source and the X-ray detector to one another.
C-arms are used for their ability to capture an image through X-ray technology. X-rays are used to examine the structure of bone. The radiation from the X-ray goes through our body. Bones and soft tissues cannot absorb the rays and reflect back as white. Any indentation or breakage is easy to see through an X-ray picture. C-arms and other mobile imaging systems are an essential part of hospital life. Specialists in surgery, orthopedics, traumatology, vascular surgery, and cardiology use C-arms for intraoperative imaging.

These medical devices provide high-resolution X-ray images in real-time, which allows the physician to monitor progress and immediately make corrections that may be required. Hospitals, surgery centers, and other medical facilities benefit from cost savings through fewer follow-up operations with minimized installation efforts.
