Spring Equinox – Today is the First Day of Spring

Today marks the first day of Spring, and with that comes a slew of emotions and happiness for what this means. Spring marks the time in the calendar when the sun shines for a longer period of time every day, until the Summer Solstice. Continue reading about how Spring affects overall bodily health in most people.

The Effects of Spring on Overall Bodily Health

The best part of Spring would usually be the decline of the flu season, however, this current flu season is poised to go well into Spring. There has also been an influx of cases of treatable diseases, and unfortunately, this will not calm down during the Spring. More people are going to be affected if they are not vaccinated. Also, allergies are more likely to perennially show up.

There are many benefits to the Spring season. Some people may have depression related to the change in seasons, called Seasonal Affective Disorder. During the spring and summer months, this seasonal depression fades and people begin feeling like themselves again. The longer hours of sunlight mean that the body is absorbing more Vitamin D and warmer temperatures. This tends to help make people happy.
