Isolette Incubators and Infant Warmers

Babies come to terms with when they are expelled from their mothers. During their stay, they are in the uterus which is a heat-controlled warm environment. To simulate that environment when they are birthed, they are put into an infant warmer. The infant warmer simulates the heat a mother would give to her baby, to make the baby feel safe, and encourage bodily functions amongst homeostasis.

Infant warmers are used in settings of infants including the NICU, Labor and Delivery departments of hospitals, and areas for newborns. Incubators are containers where the premature baby is put to simulate the uterus and the care that that structure provides. This container helps protect babies who are extra vulnerable and at increased risk of complications, from infection, noise, and light. These incubators may even provide humidified water and a fan for cooling off the preemie because they do not have fully formed capabilities of homeostasis much like newborns do. Soma Tech Intl Includes a wide variety of different types of infant warmers and incubators alike.

Drager makes a few versions of an incubator. This includes the Air-Shields Isolette C450 QT, T1500, T1500 Globe-Trotter, 8000, and the C2000.

Drager Air-Shields Isolette TI500 Features

The Drager Isolette TI500 incubator is a self-contained, mobile, intensive care unit. Consistent air temperature is essential to the health of a premature infant. The TI500 incubator features a double wall design which reduces radiant heat loss from the infant during transport between departments or between hospitals. Humidity is important, especially for babies less than 26 weeks in gestational age. An integral humidity pad helps minimize the infant’s evaporative heat loss by providing 50 to 70 percent humidity in the patient-hood for up to 12 hours. The controller features a display that is easy to read at any angle during transport.
