Vyaire Avea Ventilator

The Avea ventilator supports critical ventilation needs for the smallest patients in the NICU to children and adults with complex respiratory diseases. It’s the fourth generation, servo-controlled, software-driven ventilator. It features a dynamic range of breathing and gas delivery options for all patients. It has a flat panel color LCD with real-time graphic displays, digital monitoring capabilities, a touchscreen for easy interaction, membrane keys, and a dial for changing settings and operating parameters. Soma Technology offers two different models of the Avea ventilator: Comprehensive and Standard. If you are looking into purchasing one of these ventilators, and don’t know which one you should choose, call 1-800-GET-SOMA, or send an email to [email protected] and one of our knowledgeable sales representatives will help narrow down exactly what you need. Avea Features

Artificial Airway Compensation

When the artificial airway compensation is turned on, the ventilator automatically calculates the pressure drop across the endotracheal tube. The ventilator then adjusts the airway pressure to deliver the set inspiratory pressure to the distal (carina) end of the endotracheal tube. Artificial airway compensation is active in all pressure support and flow-cycled pressure control breaths.

Full Range of Patient Size

The Avea allows you to select a patient size of adult, pediatric, or neonate. Once the selection is made, the ventilator offers only certain parameters that are available for your patient.

Non-Invasive Ventilation

The ventilator can perform non-invasive ventilation with a standard dual-limb circuit. Leak compensation should be turned on when using this feature. To turn on leak compensation, use the touchscreen control.

Leak Compensation

Leak compensation is used to compensate for baseline leaks, which may occur at the patient mask interface or around the patient’s endotracheal tube. It only provides baseline leak compensation and is not active during breath delivery.

Circuit Compiance Compensation

When circuit compliance is active, the volume of gas delivered during a volume-controlled or targeted breath is increased to include the set volume, plus the volume lost due to the compliance effect of the circuit. Circuit Compliance is active for the set tidal volume during volume control ventilation.

Humidification

This ventilator allows the selection of active or passive humidification. Active humidification assumes 99% RH; passive assumes 60% RH when using an HME. This feature adjusts the BTPS correction factor to correct exhaled tidal volumes.

Heliox Delivery

The Avea can deliver heliox blended gas instead of medical air. By changing the connector on the back panel, the ventilator identifies the gas input and adjusts it to accommodate the change. All volumes are automatically compensated for accurate display.

Vyaire CareFusion Avea Specifications

The user interface module on the Avea is a 12.1″ display with an 800 x 600 resolution. It weighs between 73 and 80 pounds (33.1 to 36.3 kg) depending on if you have a compressor. The internal battery will last an hour solely on the ventilator, with the compressor and the ventilator it will last 30 minutes. With an external battery, this can increase to 4 hours of ventilation, or 2 hours with ventilation and the compressor.
