Drink More Water

With so many beverage choices on the market, it is easy to forget about the ubiquity of water. Water is an essential building block of supporting life, our environment, and the world. Ecosystems, animals, and plants all rely on water, so why are we choosing to side step this vital necessity? The human body is made up of 90% water, and our body uses this water in cell functions. We need to actively drink more water to replenish when our body loses water. Dr. Mallika Marshall writes in Harvard Medical School’s Journal about, “The Big Benefits of Plain Water.” Marshall writes that, “people interested in losing weight and improving their overall health could benefit from incorporating more plain water into their daily diet.”

There are more benefits to drinking water than just losing weight. Abby Phon from Mind Body Green, wrote an article, “10 Reasons Why you Should Drink More Water.” Other than weight, Phon lists that water has the capability to increase energy, flush out toxins, improve skin complexion, aid in digestion, boosts immune system, relieves headaches, prevents cramps, improves mode, and since it is free, it saves money on other beverage choices.

Doctors recommend drinking about 8 cups of water a day, and some of that also comes from the fruits and vegetables people consume. How much water do you drink a day? Do you have any tips on drinking more water? Comment below and tell us about it!
