The Great White Robotic Stirrups are powered stirrups used for lithotomy positioning, mainly in robotic pelvic surgery and other minimally invasive procedures. Unlike the manual version, these use motors to adjust the leg position, so staff don’t have to make manual adjustments during the procedure. Positioning can be controlled with a wireless remote, and positions can also be saved if the same setup is used often.
These stirrups are typically used with robotic systems like the da Vinci, since the frame and boot design leave enough room for the robotic arms. That part is important, because standard stirrups sometimes get in the way depending on how the robot is docked.The leg is supported along the calf and ankle with the extended boot, which helps spread pressure more evenly. During repositioning, the movement is synchronized so both legs move together, which reduces strain on the hips and knees.
