Alyssa

Why  did you want to become a marketer?

I majored in Art History and through marketing internships at Newport Art Museum, Mandeville Gallery, and Wadsworth Atheneum; I transferred my interest of art into marketing and branding.

What’s the best part of your job?

Definitely creating new content, and interacting with customers through social media platforms and at trade shows.

Do you have any advice for little kids who want to do Advertising/ Marketing/ PR/Art?

You need to keep cultivating your passion because that is going to turn into your happiness.

What is the best thing about working at Soma?

The family style environment and consistent encouragement to reach higher.

Tell us 3 fun facts about you

1. I’ve run into Stephen Colbert twice.

2. The last movie I rented from Blockbuster was “Frost/Nixon.”

3. I collect seaglass and use it to make sculptures.

 

Kristina

Why did you want to become a graphic designer?

I grew up with a mom that was a computer programmer. So I have always been into computers. I wanted to incorporate my love of art and computers into my dream job. I really fell in love with graphic design when I met an animator/designer for Nickelodeon.

What’s the best part of your job?

No matter what, I get to be creative every day. I love designing but at the same time I find coding websites to be just as relaxing. 

Do you have any advice for little kids who want to do Advertising/ Marketing/ PR/Art?

Draw everything! I started scribbling in a coloring book when I was young. As I got older I started taking lessons and trying different things in art. I always knew I wanted to be a designer. You just have to start somewhere.

What is the best thing about working at Soma?

Everyone is so friendly. We all work hard, but we all know how to have fun at the same time. Being a part of a team is great, and we can always work through things as a group.

Tell us 3 fun facts about you

1. I run a small business on the side where I make wedding invitations.

2. I love cooking fancy meals and trying new recipes.

3. I have had some of my photography published in magazines.

Why did you want to become a graphic designer?

I wanted to become a graphic designer/ web designer to create visually please ads and interactive websites that thousands of people use and look at everyday.

What’s the best part of your job?

The best part of my job is tracking and seeing how many people see what I create all over the world. It’s very satisfying to see when people view your work on the other side of the world.

Do you have any advice for little kids who want to do Advertising/ Marketing/ PR/Art?

I would tell them to keep drawing, sculpting, and be super creative. Don’t be afraid to get your hands dirty.

What is the best thing about working at Soma?

The best thing about working at Soma Technology is how nice and helpful everyone is.
