Monitoring Blood Glucose Levels with One Drop

Fitbit is well known in the exercise and health markets. The wearable device tracks sleeping, exercise habits, caloric intake, an odometer, weight, and heart rate. The connection between technology and lifestyle is merging into closely monitoring one’s health and lifestyle. There are other brands that do this as well including, Garmin, Apple, Samsung, BellaBeat, Polar, Argos, Motiv, and of course there are other companies.

Jen Booton of SportTechie wrote an article, Fitbit Partners With Diabetes Management Platform One Drop, to describe this new partnership. Booton writes, “One Drop will build an app specifically for the Fitbit Ionic that will show users directly from their wrists how physical activity can impact blood glucose levels. For people with different types of diabetes, exercise can lower blood glucose and make their body more sensitive to insulin.” One Drop CEO Jeff Dachis has said that they want “to provide our community with the most comprehensive set of data and tools to manage their diabetes or prediabetes. Working with Fitbit, the leading global wearables brand, was a natural next step for One Drop.”

Do you own a Fitbit? What do you use yours for? If you do have diabetes, would you use a Fitbit Ionic to stay healthy?
