Inside Infusion Pumps Service: A Workbench Recap
June 23, 2025
Infusion pumps don’t get much rest. They work nonstop, expected to perform every time, and usually only leave the clinical floor when something goes wrong. That’s why, when one shows up on our bench, we don’t just fix what’s broken, we give it a whole new life.
Over the last few weeks, we’ve worked on several models. Some needed small repairs. Others called for a closer look to make sure nothing was being missed. Each one got what it needed to get back to OEM and ISO standards.
Here’s a look at a few of them and the kind of work that goes into making sure they’re ready.
Medfusion 3500
- The Medfusion 3500 is a versatile syringe pump designed to deliver precise medication. Common repairs include: battery or screen replacements and plunger repairs.
- This one came in for cosmetic repairs and a battery replacement. We installed a fresh battery, replaced worn outer parts, and ran a full calibration check to confirm accuracy.
- By catching these wear points early, we help extend the life of the pump and keep it reliable for patient care.

InfuseOR
- The Baxter InfusOR is a compact and lightweight infusion syringe pump featuring a smart label drug system that enhances dosage accuracy. Common repairs include: battery bay or plunger repairs and dial replacement.
- This one came in with broken dials and cosmetic wear. We repaired the controls, cleaned the exterior, and ran a full inspection before clearing it for use.
- Even basic devices benefit from careful work. Small fixes keep them running as expected.
BD Alaris PCU
- The CareFusion Alaris 8015 PC Unit is the core of the Alaris System. It provides a common user interface for programming infusions and monitoring that reduces complexity at the point of care. Common repairs include: battery, keypad/screen, or latch replacement.
- This unit arrived needing a new battery, but we checked more than that. We inspected the keypad, latches, and every connection to confirm solid performance with its modules.
- For equipment this important, one repair isn’t enough, the whole system has to be right.

Medfusion 4000
- The Medfusion 4000 is widely recognized for its accurate medication delivery to patients in critical care units, including neonatal and pediatric intensive care. Common repairs include: ribbon cable replacement, sensor or power supply repairs.
- This one came in with a faulty power supply. We secured cables, repaired the power system, recalibrated the unit, and added a new battery before final checks.
- The small details we focus on help keep these pumps working longer.

What we kept seeing
Batteries were the part we replaced most across all these units. Cosmetic fixes, like worn housings and broken dials, were a close second. These smaller repairs add up. They’re what keep infusion pumps accurate, dependable, and ready for daily use.
