What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is defined as the body’s inability to properly regulate blood sugar levels. There is either little to no production, or an overproduction of insulin. There are a few different types of diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is found in children and adolescents, and Type 2 is developed during adulthood. The symptoms of diabetes are increased urination, consistent thirst, extreme hunger, frequent infections, irritability, fatigue, unexplained weight loss, and blurred vision. Tips to Managing Diabetes

It is important to check your blood sugar regularly each day. Some people are required to wear a pump which can distribute insulin via the pump. It is a good idea to always carry juice or a snack in case the blood sugar falls too low. Some people wear a medical ID bracelet letting others know of their diabetic condition in case of emergencies.
