Which Portable DR X-Ray Does My Facility Need?

X-ray technology is one of the single most important ways in which medical professionals use medical equipment to diagnose ailments. There are so many different options that your facility can benefit from. Perhaps there is a certain brand that your company likes to use, or maybe a certain style! Click to continue reading more about the different portable DR X-ray machines that Soma Technology keeps in stock!

How Does an X-Ray Work?

An X-ray unit works by emitting X-rays through a patient’s body into back into the unit. The dark areas are where the X-ray was not refracted back into the patient. Where the X-rays meet hardened tissue or bones, will form the white part of an X-ray slide. The white parts of the X-ray will produce an image that can identify breaks or fractures, cysts, previous metal fragments, or even some large tumors. These X-ray images are helpful in the surgeon being able to pinpoint where your operation will take place, and at what point they should make their initial incision.

What Are the Main Differences?

The Optima, Definium, and AMX 4+ are all X-ray generators that shoot the X-rays through the patient to a piece of equipment that receives the images on the other end.  Back in the day, this was a type of photographic film but these days most people use a plate. However, the Axia DR+ or GE Flash Pad, for example, converts the images directly into a digital format. Some similarities with these products are that they all take high-quality images of X-rays and that they are all portable. This enables them to be easily transported between patient and operating rooms.
